The Unpopular Opinions Book Tag

I saw the Unpopular Opinion Tag on YouTube and thought it seemed like fun. It was created by The Book Archer and you can view it here. So let's get started

1. A Popular Book or series that you didn't like- Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews

Me and Earl and the Dying GirlAlthough I did enjoy this book, it didn't live up to the hype that surrounded it. Everyone said that this was the best book they had ever read and I just didn't feel like this. It just wasn't the best book ever and I think I will prefer the film more than the movie as it has an indie feel which I know I will like.

2. A Popular Book or series that every one else seems to hate but you love-Matched by Ally Condie and The Wolves of Mercy Falls series by Maggie Stiefvater

Matched (Matched, #1)I really enjoy the Matched series and everyone seems to hate Crossed which I seemed to love however if I read it now I don't know how far I would agree...

Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1)The Wolves of Mercy Falls series was one of the first YA series that I read so it holds a special place in my heart and I really enjoy this series and everyone seems to champion the Raven Boys which is a series I enjoyed but again didn't live up to the hype.

3. A Love Triangle where the main character ended up with the person you did NOT want them to end up with OR an OTP that you don't like- Wessa or Jessa

Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices, #3)I preferred Jem to Will so I wanted Jem to be with Tessa but I guess that both get want they wanted...

4. A popular book genre that you hardly reach for-Classics

Pride and PrejudiceI just don't like reading classics but I am trying to read more this year and hope to get into Jane Austen this year.

5. A popular or beloved character that you do not like-Gale Hawthorne by The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1)I don't know if he is really beloved but I am sure people like him however I find him whinny and just an irrelevant character.

6. A popular author that you can't seem to get into- J.R.R Tolkien

The Hobbit (Middle-Earth Universe)I read the Hobbit last year and it was just not my favourite book. It took me ages to read and I just didn't really like it. I also read 100 pages of The Fellowship of the Ring and didn't like it however I do want to read it so I am going to try a reread next month.

7. A popular book trope that you're tired of seeing.

Delirium (Delirium, #1)I am tired of the gorgeous girl who finds herself unattractive but a boy finds her really attractive trope. I think that it is bad about girl's self confidence as it makes the reader who are mainly girls feel bad about themselves when no girl all the time has hate for their body. I don't like how it is done in Delirium as Lena herself has two guys after her but still thinks she is unattractive.

8. A popular series that you have no interest in reading- 50 Shades of Grey by E.L James

Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1)I really don't want to read the book. It is erotica and that's just not something that I really want to read ever. Just NO.

9. The saying goes "The book is always better than the movie", but what movie or T.V. show adaptation do you prefer more than the book?

The DUFF as I thought the film was done well in the fact that they used social media and it was a well done high school film, this is also one of those where the book just didn't live up to the hype.

The Spectacular Now, I didn't like the ending to the book and they changed the ending which made it really good. It also had an indie feel which I liked.

Do you have any unpopular book opinions? If so, leave them in the comments below.

See you soon,

2nd Year Blogging Anniversary and GIVEAWAY (CLOSED)

So if you see by the title of the blog post, it has been over two years, on the 15th June 2015, since my first blog post. I said in my last blog post that a lot has changed in a year but I feel like the thing that has changed most is the layout because let's face it I haven't really been consistent this year. (I blame university.) Although my posts are inconsistent I still love blogging and come up with so many ideas that I want to write about and would love to become more consistent over the next year but we will see how that goes. Blogging comes with a great community of people and Twitter chats have made me find so many books that I love and interact with great people so I am happy to be part of this community.

So last year I completed a mini-survey which spoke about books that I like and want to read to see if I might have changed in a year so I thought that this was something I will do again...

Female Representation in Harry Potter: A Transcription

So later today, in 2 hours I am going to be doing a presentation on Female Representation in Harry Potter for my university's Harry Potter Society and I thought some of you may be interested in what I had to say. I also respect that people may disagree with my views on the subject and understand that this is not the only opinion you can have. So here it is...

Hello, everyone. Thank you for coming! Today I am going to discuss female representation in Harry Potter books and films. The aims of this presentation would be to introduce you to the fact that female representation in Harry Potter may not be what it seems. So you may think that female characters are actually quite well done in the series but at some points, this is not the case. To look at this further I will be looking at characters individually as well as some aspects of the series in general. I guess that until I first researched the topic, I thought that of course, Harry Potter was going to have good female representation…
