2018 New Year Resolutions Updates and What I Am Doing In 2019

In January I made some resolutions that I wanted to complete by the end of the year and I haven't seen them since last year so I thought I would do a reaction post to them. In terms of next year, I don't want to set myself goals but I know that I need to look after myself mentally and physically. I just it to be a year of self-care which will hopefully do me some good. So let's get started...

1. Continue to Learn French/German
This is something that I did in my first year of university and would love to continue to do. I would like to do this at least 3 or 4 times a week so...

So I haven't really done this. I think I started at the beginning of the year but DuoLingo which I was using changed its way of learning and I think that I kind of gave up.

2. Take better care of myself
For this one I would like to just eat better, exercise more and drink more water but also give myself self-care when I need it.

Yeah. Again. This is something that I need to do this year. I think I have been drinking more water but that it is it. I think I have also given myself self-care when I need it. So not going out when I want to and giving myself space.

3. Read as much as possible and read more diversely
This one is kind of self-explanatory but I would like to read as much as possible reading something at least once a day. I would like to read diverse books but also to read more classics and adult books.

I haven't really done this but I think I really care about reading diversely. I like YA and I don't care what other people think. The reading once a day thing yes definitely next year.
4. Review books after I read them don't wait months to do so
Again quite explanatory but I would like to write reviews at least two days after I read them and not leave them for months or even a year to review them better.

YES! One that I have done. After about August when I did ARCAugust I became quite up to date. As of now, I have three books that I have read and need to review which is so much better than last year.

5. Write more
I have a current Work In Progress that I would like to finish this year but I would also love to write something every day, whether this is something for my degree, for this blog or creative writing I would love to do this!

Wow did I say this! Em yeah. I have definitely written more this year but every day. No chance. My WIP is at 50,000 words so we are getting there. Slowly...

6. Watch 100 Films
I did this in 2017 and would love to do this again!

I have seen 150 films. *drops mic*

7. Finish my Wreck This Journal
I have had this on the go for almost three years now and I didn't do anything this year so I would now like to change this.

Right so I haven't done this but I did do some of it. I will get there.

8. Tweet more and interact with fellow bloggersThis is quite self-explanatory again but I don't really tweet that much and would love to and therefore I would also love to read more blogs and put myself out there more.

Right so again I haven't done this but this is an anxiety and I have a job thing. I have work on Friday and Sunday when #ukyachat and #SundayYA happen so I often can't take part but I want to make an effort to put myself out there.

9. Finish or work towards finishing my WIP
This is a pipe dream but I can hope but I will hopefully do NaNoWriMo twice this year which should help.

50,000 words. I'm getting there.

10. Upload and update my blog
I would like to add a review section to my blog and update the book reviews sections on my blog. I would also love to cross-post all my reviews to Amazon and Goodreads. I feel like this would take at least a day but I want to do it!

I have done it. Mostly again I'm about 5-10 behind but compared to what it was I'm happy.

11. Be up-to-date with book reviews
I have some books that I have to review for ages and would love all the reviews to be out and to be on top of them all. This is a hopeful one but I can dream.

Again I have around 3 reviews to write and 10 physical books that I have to review which is quite good. I will get there!

So as you can see I am not really going to do resolutions in 2019 but I think that I would like to continue this list. I just think it is stupid to think that we have got loads of stuff done in one year when we have our whole life to do it. We are all work in progress so let's take life one day at a time...

See you soon,

Amy

How did you do on your resolutions? Are you doing them next year? Let me know in the comments!

On Turning 22

So on Wednesday (today when this goes up) I will be 22. *is currently listening to 22 by Taylor Swift* Obviously. The thing about turning 22 is the fact that you have just turned 21. I say just it was a whole year ago. 21 which has so many meanings behind it which is what I mentioned in my post last year so turning 22 feels kind of meh.21 felt to me last year as to be some big thing like my whole life was going to change. I was graduating from university after so much in my life felt like it was going to change. But the thing is it didn't.I stayed for a Masters in History. At the same university with people that I have know for some year and new ones and of course the people the people that graduated last year ain't there anymore and I do miss them. Things are still kind of the same.Turning 22 feels like it's in the middle. It's not special. It doesn't hold special meaning. It's just itself. This is how I feel like 2019.2019 is such a middling year for me. I'…

Favourite Books Of The Year (2018)

As it is now 2019 I think it is time to share my favourite books of 2019. I read over 120 books last year, 125 to be exact so there is a lot to choose from so I will be doing a top 10 with 7 honourable mentions so let's get started...

Honourable Mentions:

Number 10: Theatrical by Maggie Harcourt

Theatrical was just so fun. I feel in love with everything in the book and loved the romance. I really enjoyed the whole idea of going backstage in the theatre so I would definitely recommend.

Number 9: Lord Of Shadows by Cassandra Clare

I am more than happy to say that I was a massive fan of Lady Midnight but there was something about Lord of Shadows that I devoured and loved. That ending also broke me so I hope that I can read Queen of Air And Darkness in 2019.

Number 8: Are We All Lemmings And Snowflakes? by Holly Bourne

I did really enjoy this book and thought that it was an interesting look at mental illness. I love Holly Bourne anyway so of course, I was going to love this book. I want …

Book Review: Ascension by Victor Dixen

*I am reviewing this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own. *

Title: Ascension Author: Victor Dixen Publisher: Hot Key Books Source: Readers First Rating: 5/5 stars
(Amazon|Goodreads)

Book Summary:
Six girls, six boys. Each in the two separate bays of a single spaceship. They have six minutes each week to seduce and to make their choices, under the unblinking eye of the on-board cameras. They are the contenders in the Genesis programme, the world's craziest speed-dating show ever, aimed at creating the first human colony on Mars.

Leonor, an 18 year old orphan, is one of the chosen ones.
She has signed up for glory.
She has signed up for love.
She has signed up for a one-way ticket.

Even if the dream turns to a nightmare, it is too late for regrets.

Book Review:

I was excited to read Ascension as Hot Key were describing this as Love Island in space and much like the rest of the UK, I have been hooked by the show that has just finished. This description is so accurate bu…
